Pik-A-Book

Abstract

As engineering students, we are quite familiar with difficulties faced in procuring books for the curriculum. Students rely on fewer book stores for technical books. Most of these books being costly as well. Hence a "second hand" solution is definitely beneficial for students.

This gave us motivation to come up with an On-Campus one-stop solution for our fellow students who intend to buy books second-hand. We provide a platform for students to make requests for books. Apart from books, we also facilitate trade of notes by professors and other college accessories like Calculators, Drafters, Tools, etc

Additional Questions

Who is your customer?

Our consumers are engineering students seeking second hand books or selling their second hand books and other college accessories like calculators, drafters, etc

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

With exorbitantly high prices of engineering books and also, so many books to refer, it becomes difficult for an engineering student to buy all the books. Hence, providing second hand books at prices lower than already existing secondhand book sellers too, we help knowledge spread to the society.

What attributes will make this idea/product successful? Why do you believe that those features will create success?

The very fact that good quality books are sold at prices lesser than MRP will make our idea successful. For people in need or even for those who would not want to possess the book, we are a resort.

Explain how you (your team) will execute to make this idea/product successful? What gives you (your team) an advantage over others already in the market or new to this market?

We ourselves being students, understand needs of our customers better. With our On-Campus Representative for every college, in every department, we aim to receive the inside story. We give those books exclusively prescribed by faculty member of consumer's college itself. Also, the pay-per-day based library for our members gives them access to reference books they may require during examinations, vivas, etc
